Thread the Ball onto the Rod

Thread the ball onto the rod over the notched threads. There should be a gap (from the notch-channel) showing at each end of the ball where it meets the threads.

Cut two or three tiny (1/4 inch) pieces of the silver solder, and push them into the channel between the ball and the threads. Or, one slightly larger piece can be folded and pushed in. Whatever will sit the pieces snugly in the channel.
