These new balls made it possible for me to make smaller joints that were strong and very smooth. Brass plates seem to be the way to go, because the metal is a bit softer than the nickel. The machining that you do on the plate won't scratch and ruin the balls.

I still do a lot of experimenting with new joints, but this one is by far my favorite.
